News flash!

Just a quik update on "ole blue". I got with Tom @ syc and he has advised me that I have one of the old versions of the "modified 2 bolt heads"? the valves for this head are 81mm long, instead of 66mm like most others! He is in the process of finding a set he has stashed somewhere at his shop. Once I get those I'll put the engine back toghether, as for the other plans I had for this year, if you read my rant "gov. b.s." well the rest is just gonna have to wait! I'll let you know when she's roaring!

SLESTAK75 02-07-2013 08:17 AM

Wouldn't you know it.

bear 02-07-2013 08:35 PM

Just wondered?

Hey does anyone know, could I just change the entire head assy. to change from the 81mm long valves to the more common 66mm?

SLESTAK75 02-07-2013 09:32 PM

If your bolt pattern matches a head like that it would seem that you could, but the studs would most likely need shortened. This is just theory from me as I'm not sure what heads are available but if the bolt pattern was the same it seems like it should work.

bear 02-08-2013 06:54 AM

possible?

Yea, I mean the head I have is a 4 bolt pattern and is only 2.5" thick, Tom said it's a mixture of old and new probably, so I just need to get my mics out and check the bolt pattern to see if its possible, just in case Tom doesn't have the 81mm anymore. It would be a shame to have to give up that p&p haed though.

SLESTAK75 02-08-2013 08:48 AM

True. And valves would be cheaper than a head. From what I have seen so far there are 54mm bolt pattern and 57mm. Type A and B respectively.

bear 02-08-2013 06:01 PM

type a

Ok so I took the time to measure my stud holes and I got a 54mm reading from center hole to center hole, so if all else fails I think I'm a canidate to replace the whole head if need be! just waiting to hear from boss man Tom at this point.

SLESTAK75 02-12-2013 08:26 AM

Any news on the valves bear?? I surfed almost all the way to the end of the Internet and didn't find any.

bear 02-12-2013 10:02 PM

I shot a follow up email to Tom yesterday, but havent gotten any news back yet, but hey he's a busy man, I'm sure he'll get back to me!

bear 03-08-2013 08:09 PM
