First Post, yerf dog identification and need belt

Hello,

First time go karter. I purchased a yerf dog for my kids but the belt ripped apart after a couple of hours. first of all can someone please help me identify this kart? It has a predator 212 on it which is in pretty great shape.

The cetrifigal clutch says comet and is flat on the engine side. The plates further away from the motor have an angle to them. I think this is what they call an asymetrical belt type and the belt that got tore up was angled on both sides so I think they put the wrong belt on. I tried to get one from tractor supply but it didn't work so now I see these seem to be very specific belt types.

I guess what I would like to know is what belt do I need to order for this kart? I just want to get it running again for the kids and then will look into a torque converter ! When that time comes which torque converter kit should we get?

The brakes were bad, the band was chewed up and I believe it is a 4 inch band on this car. I may have to go to disc later but right now my main concern is

#1 identification of the model kart

#2 which belt to purchase for this kart to get it back on the road

#3 which torque converter to upgrade to

My kids have so much fun when it was running. Wild hogs tear up our pasutre so it's very rough and watching those kids bounce around in that red buggy is classic, just the dang thing broke.

I also noticed the chain has a little slack in it. Can I tighten by unbolting and moving the engine forward or back?

Thanks and looking forward to getting this thing back on the pasture!

Here is a picture of the kart , if someone can help me ID it!

Welcome to the site.

Looks like you have a 30032

The predator engine is not OEM. So that makes me wonder if anything else was changed by the previous owner? Will need good clear pictures of your drive train to help identify what you have please.

Ok it look like it is tav 30 stock torque converter. The 212 predator is the metal stamped one. I am going to throw on header springs airebox and jets, usual stuff I suppose. It ate the belt that was on there after a short while but after looking at the belt and digesting more information about everything I have come to the conclusion that the belt they had on there was symetrical which is probably why it blew out so quick. Have two asymetrical belts on order and brake band.

The Predator has a different length crankshaft than the original Tecumseh , take a straight edge and make sure your driver and driven shiv are in perfect alignment , or belts disintegrate .

Working well over here =]

Question, we replaced the stock exhaust with straight pipe and muffler. Where is a good place to attach return throttle spring? For now we just hooked one on the header pipe bolt and the other end to the throttle. Seems to work ok but wondering if there is a kit to make it cleaner? Already been through a broken return spring that gave way, lucky I showed my son where the kill switch was before he rode because that thing just kept going and going!
