My Carbide after the Mods!
I would have made a longer video, but it was soooo cold outside!:( But, I finally got around to making a video of me driving my carbide after the mods.:biglaugh: It's not very long, but I'll probably be making more clips and putting them all together. Current mods: 10g sliders, Uni filter, removed spark arrestor, 1500RPM main clutch spring.

Why wont the youtube thing work?!?!
It dosent work for me either !
UGH! That sucks!
Ok, I provided a link, it works!
to late iv seen it already lol

I'm not sure why you guys have problems with the you tube thing. |
Heck yeah! This thing is a blast!

did your last mods help?

cant wait till i get some.......
Variator mods alone will make a big difference! Yes, a few MPH will be cut off the top end, but the amount of low end power that will be gained will be worth it.
im just doin the yellow 1500 spring no rollers or sliders
i dont want to take off any topend or low end |
The speed the speed that is lost can be gained back.
how?
Uin filter, no rev cdi, and a high performance clutch will all help regain speed without doing heavy mods to the engine.
no way O_o
way...
you dont believe me?
no i do not! lol sorta kinda
PROVE IT! |
You want me to but all of those parts?!?!? WTF
just kidding lol
hey dont cuss j/k |
oh yeah...no cussing. maybe ill buy those parts
how did you know if you didn't buy them before?
im just going by what people are saying on the forum
o lol who know for sure!

hehe what would happen if it went the wrong way
? |
If I got all of the mods and I lost more speed?

Evan,
I wouldn't recommend getting just a spring and nothing else. You're not going to see much of any performance gain other than maybe a little more mid-range power (but not much). If you don't need more low end, then go with a UNI filter and velocity stack/carb rejet like Josh got. It'll give you more overall power from bottom to top and you'll probably GAIN some top speed and definitely not lose any low end! :) It's the level 1 air performance package on my site for GY6. |
yay let me get some money now lol
how about 10g, like what josh did so i dont lose much top or low?
It worked for me. My speed loss was only about 5 MPH. But, of corse, that can be regained as I told you.
how bout 11, any one got info on that??
11g sliders?
11g sliders will still give you a bunch more low end, with a little less top end loss. The UNI filter air intake mod will give back some of that top end without negatively affecting the low end.
ithink im going to go with 11g sliders and a 1500 rpm yellow koso spring
from here!!

Hey Mike, how much speed do you think could be gained from a no rev cdi and a racing clutch?
Bit more top speed and much better clutch engagement when climbing. My buggy went from bogging down and slowing significantly on hills to powering right up them - or digging holes in the side of it from spinning the tires on a hill that was too steep or too loose soil!
i wish our helix would have more climbing power

Have you done any mods to the CVT area yet? If not, you should consider doing the same things that Josh did and Evan is considering: 10 or 11g slider weights, yellow main spring, and UNI air intake with velocity stack and carburetor rejet. Will cost about $90 shipped and give you a bunch more low end and get you up those hills. Ask Josh about the difference in his buggy! |
to Mike:
I don't know how much better it could get. I just finished driving around the neighborhood, and I found this absolutely awesome hill for climbing and going down. The Carbide did awesome! to Buggyman: If you have a Helix, it is really easy to get more climbing power out of them, at the expense of some top end speed. |

Im going to pick up my first dune buggy probably this weekend. It's a used 2007 carbide good shape getting it for $1,000. Does anyone know what are the main things i can to to make it climb decent hills or will it be able to do it? thanks
Well, you should start with changing the roller weights in it to slider weights, say, 10g, the main clutch spring to a 1500RPM and a Uni air intake and re jet the carb if that hasn't been done already.
If your looking to climb hills, the variator / clutch mods are your best bet.
Yeeeeeah, what he said.
yeah im getting it for my hunt camp to rip around on. I got 100 acres of basically hydro line hills and some mud terrain but mostly trails. Where can i order the parts i need from TSC? because i know they sell new carbides there.
No. Not TSC. SYC power sports. Their link is on the homepage. I don't like the site, but, whatever.
josh
looking good buy from mike the supplier ********* olderthan |
