Calculating LED light bar size/wattage?

Hi all,

New the buggy world and I have a Baja Dune 150 with the Howhit 150cc engine. I did the air intake upgrade and upped the jet size. The two lights on the top were broken (1 missing). I am looking at getting either a 12" or 20" light bar. Here are the options:

My question is what I can run power wise. The 12" is 72w and the 20" is 126w. Assuming a stock 6 pole stator - what can I support? I am aware of the 8 and 11 pole upgrades. Can anyone let me know what each of the stators (6, 8, and 11) can support wattage wise?

Thanks!
Joe

My Yerf ran the 11-pole stator and 3-phase rectifier. Choke was manual, battery was 14Ah and charging circuit was all rewired with heavier gauge. I could pull 200+ watts of lighting out of the charging system with this setup and not kill the battery.

GX150 - thanks for the info. I am not ready to upgrade to the 11 pole stator at this point - but that is good to know!

The 6 pole stator buggies had come with 2) 35 watt lights. What you want to be concerned with is the Amperage. I run 2 single led lights on my Joyner and they pull only 1 amp each. When I run at night it is more than sufficient lighting.

Well - I got both the lights and hooked up the 20" LED (126w) to the battery while it was running and saw no noticeable drain. I am thinking the smart way to hook it up is using a relay so I have no heavy power to the switch.
