PVC pipe and radiator hose to a uni filter?

preacher joe 04-01-2015 06:00 AM

Thanks everyone, 2SlickNick, i took a minute as you said, sorry and liduno thanks i tried a furnco from the hardwear store 1.5x1.5 to big and the 1.25x1.25 to small i will try to find the right radiator hose, i;m just not sure what to jet my carb if i don't use stock stuff. thanks i've got to go. I aways seem to have a busy life and never seem to be online when others are whats a good time to meet folks. Thanks for everything

2SlickNick 04-01-2015 06:39 AM

Lol - Thanks.

I have stock air filter and box ( don't worry about shipping ). Do you still have the stock air scoop between the headrests? If so, all you would need is a hose from air scoop to filter box - which you can use a shop vac hose.

Let me know, as it is just laying around my garage.

Send me a P.m. with your address and I can send it out to you.

Anyways good luck and we like pics here....

if plumbing fittings don't work, check in at a pool supply place. sometimes pool filter hose lands right in between plumbing sizes and the end of a short hose section will have a smooth part you can cut off. Likewise, i find that hoses from upright canister vacuum cleaners seem to match better in the same manner. I have one that fits tightly over the carb end and the corrugation locks it in very well (also hose clamped it). It flexes easily to get under the swingarm cross bar and went right onto the aluminum carb adapter for the uni.

SYCARMS 04-02-2015 11:36 AM

Lowes or home depot in the plumbing section, you can pickup a piece of strait trap pipe and in the same general area there is a rubber coupler (clamps included)do not know for what it is used but all you will have to do is trim one end and it fits the carb perfectly. The pipe will come 6",8",10",or 12" 6" or 8" is what most use. You will need a UNI or like for the filter. You will also have to fatten up the main jet or you will lean out the engine. You can also just go with the stock box 2SlickNick offered if you feel the performance is OK for your application. The UNI and jet will give you a bit more power and the engine will run better.

preacher joe 04-02-2015 08:08 PM

Thanks everyone i have the filter, pipe and the rubber to connect it i just don't know what size jets to use, if you all are using this UNI setup what jets are working for you guys i heard someone say about 8 sizes larger but i truly do not know. The exhaust came today so we are getting closer to the first ride. thanks everyone

liduno 04-02-2015 08:33 PM

I did the same mod and can't for the life of me remember what size jet I ended up using. Trial and error, make a change and look at your plug.

preacher joe 04-02-2015 08:39 PM

Thanks, i know ultimately it's trial and error just not sure where to begain.

SYCARMS 04-02-2015 08:52 PM

.122 or .123 jet in a stock engine.

preacher joe 04-02-2015 08:56 PM

is that the main or the pilot? or do i need to change the pilot? thank you

SYCARMS 04-02-2015 11:00 PM

Just the main jet.

Tom's jet recommendation is spot on. You'll go up to a 127 if you open up the exhaust. These dramatic increases in jet size give you a good indication of just how badly these motors are De-tuned from the factory. There's a bunch of power to be had with just a few modification.

preacher joe 04-03-2015 08:36 AM

Thanks again everybody, as of right now 8:30 a.m. central time I have some time off today to work on the buggys. the carbide is the closest to driving we should be able to test drive it today althought it does need a few things, if i can find a main jet somewhere my wife is heading toward ST. Louis today and there is a place that sells and services karts on her way surly she go by there for me, lol and the top end for the crossfire 150r should be here today. O'yeah i drug home a twister HH 150 yesterday it's in rough shape it has good compression but!!! he gave me 2 new wiring harnesses main body and swingarm he said other than that it just needs a battery and a key switch so we'll see unless life pulls me in every other direction. well here comes the rain and i don't have a lot of shelter from it though i do have some. Thanks again mybe i'll get some pics up today.

preacher joe 04-03-2015 08:42 AM

Most of the oem exhaust systems on these buggies are pretty restricted.

preacher joe 04-03-2015 10:51 AM

so i wonder the one i bought from buggy depot is a more performance exhaust. https://www.**********.com/product/2...-assembly.html
Would anybody know?

preacher joe 04-03-2015 10:59 AM

Ok i just called buggy depot and they said that the exhaust i bought is equivalent to the stock so it's nothing special and thats ok.

preacher joe 04-03-2015 11:02 AM

i see the link i posted was kind of blocked out if i done something wrong truly did not mean to please if someone would/could clue me in i will make sure it will never happen again. Thanks

liduno 04-03-2015 11:17 AM

I don't think they allow links unless it's a site sponsor. Don't sweat it.

preacher joe 04-03-2015 11:26 AM

ok that's a relief. Thanks, well the rain has moved out i guess i will get busy on the carbide

SYCARMS 04-03-2015 12:39 PM

Preacher Joe that is a definite no no in what you had just tried to do. So to make all right you will say 25 Hail Mary's and 15 Our Fathers.

SYCARMS 04-03-2015 12:40 PM

Guess I just gave away that I'm Catholic.

preacher joe 04-03-2015 02:59 PM

SYCARMS, thats funny it's good to see people with a sence of humer i thought you might be Catholic or you just watch a lot of tv, or just messing with the new guy, but i won't hold that against on any of the above. And anyway i called that shop a few towns away and he only had .115 or a .135 so no jets today. Thanks all

SYCARMS 04-03-2015 03:14 PM

I have the jets in stock. e-mail me, tom@sycpowersports.com. . I'll shoot you an e-mail back.

preacher joe 04-04-2015 03:13 PM

Thanks Tom, i just sent you a email and the carbide has been test driven and i must say it was ok just have a few things to do before i can turn the boy lose but all is well thus far thanks everyone. parts for the crossfire didn't show yesterday but i got a email today saying they are at the post office so i'll get them on Monday.
