Another new Texan

Hello everybody!

(*Hi Dr Nick! *)

So I was given a crossfire 150 to drag home on a trailer...
It seems mostly there. Missing the seats... needs a throttle cable for sure.
Ok...
so maybe its less of a crossfire 150 than it is a big semi-rolling pile of rusty tubing.

The bottom of the tube frame that i would call the pan is... gone..
there are two flops of sheet metal, and obvious gaps in material where tube frame used to be. So I get to get all Mad Max with this project. Got torch, Got welder... I can scrounge materials...

The motor...
yeeeesh...

so it rotates.
I dunno how.
It sat for at least 2 years with no spark plug in the hole. Completely exposed to the elements under a mott of oak trees. The scraping sounds even subsided after about 3 revolutions lol. Oil doesnt look like it has too much water in it for as long as it sat. Popped th valve cover and took a peek. I was amazed how clean it was in there. there were a couple drops of sludge at the lowest point on the exposed head but everything looked nice and clean! cranked it while the vc was off to see oil spouting just like it should be in all the right places. I put my handy dandy compression rig on it and she popped 155psi. I'm assuming that is within spec for a Howhit gy6 150cc.

The carb...
It was in some pretty desperate shape.
Everything was locked solid. I removed and started the disassembly.
There was an active colony of Wood Ants living in it.
The thing was completely full of big ol' red wood ants and their larvae!
cleaned them out, tore it completely down... and started cleaning.
I think I actually managed to salvage this carb. It only lacks a float bowl seal and I think it will be good to go.

So anyway...
Back to introducing myself.
I'm a gearhead.
Also a beekeeper.
And I live in Texas.
