Carter American Made Machines

Rumor has it that starting late this year, Carter will be making their buggies in house again. Anyone have any info on this?

I dont have any info on this but i have driven the old 6.0hp carter kart? nice kart too, but it was wrecked,,, bad. Hit the cage hard enough to kill someone. but,,,, NOTHING BROKE !!!!!! amazing but from then on it went like 20mph THAT WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM 2!!!! great kart

The one I had was a pretty decent machine. Nothing fancy but it ran good.

did it have any probs?

The only problem you have to watch with these is is the plate the drive system sits on can be weak. The one we had needed to have a corner welded back. Was fine after that.

:) Cool:)

ive herd from my parts supplier that their gonna start making EVERYTHING in house now.... including replacement parts... finally a company moving from china to the U.S instead of the other way around:)

BuggyMaster 07-19-2009 11:45 PM

If they do that they will make a fortune provided they can keep the costs down. The biggest thing I hear from people is them frowning upon the china stuff. I have had much better luck I guess. The roketa that I had was the only clunker out of the deal.

funindamud 07-19-2009 11:47 PM

ive owned 3 carters and 2 yerfs.... the carters and minibuggies and the yerfs where just yard karts.... not intended for anymore than the yard and driveway...

BuggyMaster 07-19-2009 11:58 PM

I agree. The SpiderBox I had was actually probably the best built yerf they ever made. I have had several of the earlier ones. I am trying to get my hands on a carter that is really a great machine that I have never seen before. Like one of their first mini buggies powered by an 11hp tecumseh.

im not much into the industrial motor carts... i like the GY6 motors because of the modifications that you can do to them... i now have 3 of them... well 4 but the other one is blown up and im wantin to fix it some time... just for a spare...

the mid size carts will be the first off the line, then the 150 followed by the 250 and 300. when i went over there they had part of the assembly line set up for a dry run.

They are redesigning everything, but wont tell what they will look like. I did see a drawing of a proto type rzr looking machine. that is going to be cool. engines will range from 250-600

BuggyMaster 07-27-2009 05:38 PM

What do you mean mid sized? Isn't that what the 150's are?

bige 07-28-2009 03:40 AM

I ment to say mid level carts, they will be the smaller ones with 6-10hp industrial engines
