make a mounting plate for your motor so you can slide the motor

im using a comet torqe converter so the chain goes from the jackshaft to the axle sprocket

i was thinkin about shortening the chain by one link and if that doesnt work i guess i need a new chain

The yerfs typically use a plate mounting system. The jackshaft is part of the main plate and then the engine can move independent of that plate. You move the engine itself by loosening just the four engine bolts. You would do that if you were wanting to adjust the belt on your converter. If you want to adjust the chain, you loosen all six bolts and move the entire plate forward or backward. Then double check your belt and lock it down. That's how the last one I had worked. What the jackshaft is welded to would be the main plate.
