I live in Lancaster SC which is about 45 minutes south of Charlotte NC. There is a very nice 4wheeler/utv park called Carolina Adventure World located very close by that has camping and rv sites. I have been there and loved it.

TheFauxFox 03-14-2015 07:54 AM

Wanted to message you, zman. Just drove through Travelers Rest, SC on my way skiing. Haha where's the buggies I don't see them tearing around the roads? :p

zman007007 03-14-2015 08:57 AM

hey Bob you don't live to far away from me. I heard that place you mentioned is awesome to ride on.

zman007007 03-14-2015 08:59 AM

wife and I should be moving within a year hopefully, cant take the cold anymore and snow in NY. We have been looking near south Carolina called Greenville, also looking at some spots in north Carolina.

TheFauxFox 03-18-2015 07:22 PM

From living in the south I'd say go North Carolina! Around Asheville. About a 1-3hr drive to your north/west there are SPECTACULAR mountains (skiing too :p) and great trails, and 3-5hrs to your east there's the beach. SC is closer to the beach (for the most part) but let's be honest... TRAILS. NC is much more mountainous= more fun riding :D

its funny that you said that we where looking at houses in Asheville also where my wife was offered her job position there also. But I don't want to live in the mountains. We wouldn't mind living near Asheville a little east of it to stay a little clear from the mountains. I am looking for a house with property 5 plus acres and something with a 2 car garage minimum, or if the house is way below my budget where I can put a big work shop up. We are going to try to make the trip down there this year to look around in person then hopefully have some stuff cleared up to be able to make the move by next april or may unless I hit lotto lol.

its funny you said that my uncle who lives in north Carolina said the same. Looks like we will not look there.

zman007007 03-21-2015 11:28 AM

Jm the greenville area is a beautiful place to live. I live about a 25 minute drive from one side and about i hour to the other side. from my house I can be at the mtns. in about 2 hours. or Myrtle beach in about 4 hours.

zman007007 03-21-2015 11:30 AM

plus there are several beautiful good size lakes very close, within 1 or 2 hours.

Zman, the flaw with your statement is you cannot drive the buggies on the lake... :p

I'm telling you, mountains!!! LOL let us know what happens!

who said you could?

jmansracerocket 03-25-2015 12:58 PM

zman are the summers in south Carolina to hot? to go outside. Here in the summer we do get up to 90 degree weather which doesn't bother me but does it get over 100 degrees down there a lot ?

zman007007 03-25-2015 01:37 PM

the temps do get around 100 sometimes but 90's are more common. the worst part is humidity more than the temps. most of the time you just find youself a good shade tree.

zman007007 03-25-2015 01:38 PM

shade tree to work under that is. lol

ok I figured, but its give and take I rather be outside in warm weather I hate the cold.

You said the lakes were nearby. The only features I assumed worth mentioning were ones to ride buggies on ;)

In all honesty though the carolinas do have some beautiful scenery

Yup zman CAW is nice and if you have a buggy that is 4 foot wide or less its a short trip down hwy 21 to another atv park called TNT Motorsports. TNT has some long trails to ride on and if you have a racing 4wheeler they have some nice supercross courses to fly on. Its a litttle bit cheaper than CAW and a bit more rustic but i rode there for about 5 years before CAW was created.
I have to put my buggy plans on a back burner for the time being because i blew the engine in my jeep last week. I have found an engine for 200 bux and have made the first half payment and will have it paid for in 2 weeks then i will have to find a place to do the engine swap. Putting a 98 cherokee engine in a 91 jeep cherokee. It loooks like it will fit lol. We do some weird engine swaps down here. We put a 350 in a pinto i had once and it was a blast til i warped the body.
I will be getting back to the buggy tho it is on my bucketlist. I have had ideas and dreams (really) since the late 70's early 80's about building/owning my own trail buggy and with the time i have on my hands now i need something to do before i go stir crazy.q

zman007007 03-27-2015 03:39 PM

zman007007 03-28-2015 03:36 PM
