12V impact
 

Just bought a 12volt impact made by Chicago Electric. Hope it works well. Also has alligator clamps for battery terminal. It is rated for 200 ft lbs. will test later and let you guys know how it works.

Sounds like a good investment for trail ans emergency repairs. I looked at some battery 1/2" drive units, but its hard to impress me with electric vs air tools.

Emergency use is exactly what it is for. It does work. At first I thought it didn't. It works off a clutch system like the CVT. the motor spins then you have to push/hit the impact and clutch engages to knock it loose. Do this several times and wah-lah

oh, I agree air tools are best.

This is very handy when ur out on trails. You can clip it to ur battery and use it out there.to replace a belt, weights, etc. Emergency in the middle of nowhere.

Just read some of the review on the harbor freight site and had some decent reviews. Stating it is for EMERGENCY use, but saw a couple people saying it did well on Variator nuts. Will see how it works there next time I am in CVT.

Once you get used to the electric impacts you'll never want to go back to the traditional pneumatics. Much, much more versatile, faster and convenient than air tools. Air is the ticket for such things as sanders. cutoffs, grinders and stuff but for assembly of nuts, bolts and hardware a battery impact is the way to go. I converted over to electrics over a year ago. I keep 2 guns and 6 chargers going at my work station now. Maybe twice a week at most will I need to drag out a air hose. Once you get the feel of the gun you can tighten a series of bolts quickly and the torque for all will be within a couple of lbs. I'm using the 18V Dewalts and I love them.
