Frankenbike- the "Hondasaki"

In my spare time I tried my hand at making a Frankenbike. My friend bought this project for $350. because he thought it looked interesting & asked me to get it running/functioning. When I got it I found out it had a 1991 Kawasaki KDX200 frame with a 1972-73 Honda SL250 engine & a 1981-84 Yamaha tank. The first thing I did was re-built the frame- the project starter just cut the frame in two & welded it back together. The rear wheel and front wheel didn't align, the motor couldn't come out!, the engine height didn't work with the rear sprocket side to side or up and down with the swingarm. So I butchered it up and aligned everything to function properly. I then went to getting the motor to run- I found a crack in the case I repaired first, then went on to making it run. These old Honda's are very reliable and it didn't take a whole lot to get it running after making the exhaust, foot pegs, shifter, foot brake lever & a kick start. It ran great but SMOKED!!!:banghead: Called the owner and told him the issue and offered to transplant it again! I used a 1986 Honda TRX200SX (of course my engine of choice) but this required a total re-build of the frame for it to fit. I had to re-make everything again:cussing:
Didn't take but a couple of days and fired it up & it actually functioned like it should:D
Now the "Hondasaki" was a reality, I was given some free plastics from a Honda CR125 & 250 to dress it up with. Now his bike is a semi-automatic,electric start, pull start,(has reverse!) and it was a great project for me!

Here's the next frame re-build for the TRX200SX engine. Modified the fenders to fit the frame.

I had to make a custom intake manifold because a factory one for the quad wouldn't fit. The foot brake lever ended up looking like a snake! but works perfect. The balance of the body plastics & tank re-assembled.It looks like a bike again!

For those who care to view- here's the 1st test ride of the Franken-bike "Hondasaki". Sorry about the end going crazy as my wife was stumbling over my OVER-GROWN weeds
and hit the focus button as I was doing a burn-out. How do you like the color scheme? "Only in America"
