Pulled The Trigger

I've got sliders and springs coming for the Carbide. Along with rear brake pads and an exhaust gasket. I went with 10.5 g sliders and the yellow main spring. Hafta wait and see how it goes!

Nice. I did the 12g sliders. Was able to gain a 1-3 mph
And the torque is just a little more than stock.
I think you will have a noticeable low end increase then. Keep us up to date.

Thats surprising, from what i've heard I you should have lost top end. I'm hoping I dont lose too much but I do like low end for trails.

Well my stock roller weights were in bad shape. And sliders 12 gram sliders will act like 14 gram rollers on the top end since it raises the plate a little more. But still has the 12 g low end.

Sounds like a win win for you! You happy with your setup?

2SlickNick 07-19-2013 09:49 PM

True.
I don't have any complaints. Just not a crazy big difference, but have not been on the trails either ( too damn wet ).
I would probably notice more torque if I went lighter. Still happy with what I have for now.

Sounds good. According to the USPS website I should have parts when I get home. Hafta see if I'll be allowed out in the garage tonight ;)

Great. I am curious how yours will perform once they are on.

Got the new pieces and parts put in the buggy and I would say that there is a definate difference. It launches at a higher rpm so it seems to pull harder off the line. Lost a few mph on the top end but nothing major. I put the 1,500 rpm clutch springs on it as well. The rollers that I took out were starting to flat spot already

2SlickNick 07-25-2013 02:11 PM

Awesome. I too should have done the clutch springs. Oh well next time....
Glad your buggy is better than ever.
Now you can hit some steeper hills without needing running start.
Glad toy pulled the trigger.

Thanks, I need to go hit the trails and give it a run. I'm thinking thats where i'll see the biggest difference

Last night, the girls got to run the carbide with the new springs/sliders for the first time. I must say, they loved it! It did lose a few mph on the top end, but everywhere else it feels stronger so they never even noticed the lack of top end. When I asked them if they thought it felt faster, the smiles on their faces said it all. Now, wonder what I should do to it next? Hmmmm
