A Better clutch

So If you could buy a stronger TAV what would you like?

Something like a 40 belt series scaled to a 3/4 drive engine and secondary clutch?

Just curious- have you ever broke a TAV2? The only time I've ever seen one fail was due to "NO" maintennace or weather related deterioration.

I would have to say yes.
Not bashed to destruction by neglect or stupidity, but showing distress from opperating beyond its design limits.

The quest for mower power, higher rpm and more plate presure and some easier ways to adjust it make me ask.

Those nice Chinese fellows seem to listen to once when I asked a lot of pointed questions. Had a very interesting discussion with the factory that provided the parts BMI and others are still selling when comet went under.

Maybe if I can convince them we need a 40 belt on a beefed up 20 series symetrical design.

Have you ever seena 340 series comet?
Thats a good adjustable clutch that uses a 20 series belt.

But its limited to an 8 hp rating.
Now what if the Chinese would make an improved version with a stronger belt?

Now a new Chinese 40 driver is 80 dollars, and the driven is about the same.
So maybe they could be convinced to make an all around better stronger unit that sells in the 150 dollar range.

Game changer for guys with higher power engines like me.

What type of distress? Yes I've had my hands on a 340 and several snowmobile type tuneable clutches as well as Bullies & Hilliards.

If a bigger clutch is what you want to use- get someone to make you a sleeve for your shaft & a tall key to get you up to 3/4". I still don't get why you'd want more plate pressure, do you want to stay in low gear longer?

Ya something like that...

I don't know there are things about the TAV I don't like and there are a lot of clearence issues with the 40 series on these bikes.

There has to be a stronger more compact way to make a cheap torque converter with better belt.
