1988 Honda trx200sx engine

I have a 88 Honda trx200sx engine that I am putting into a buggy but can not get any spark out of it I’m using a 87 wiring harness cause I couldnt find an 88 harness. Does anyone know what electrical tests I can do to figure out what’s going on?
