New Buggy Owner in Colorado
Just picked up our first buggy off craigslist - an older Joyner dirt devil.
Hauled it home on Saturday, worked about a half day on it Sunday, and got it cranked up last night. It needs a bit more work but looks like it has a lot of potential. Did a bit of searching around for help on rewiring the CDI and getting the carb cleaned and setup (especially the electric enrichment) - thanks Chris |

Welcome to the site , Good Luck with the new toy .

Just be careful with the gear box for there are no parts available anywhere

Thanks for the welcome. Have it running now -- hopefully just needs seal for the water pump -- getting water in the oil.
What is the weak part of the gear box? What usually kills them and how to prevent it?! Also, the PO said something about a transmission shop (AAMCO?) having parts for them? I need to take the top off it and gave a look around ... |
I had one with a bad fork and some bad gears. Someone on here said some time ago that they had a friend at AAmco who he took it to and they repaired it but never heard results. I had taken by gearbox to AAmco but immediately they laughed and said what the hell is it out of and said they couldn't do anything with it. It was a Chinese designed box so it is doubtful any american parts will work. At least I haven't found any. I found someone who was interested in it and sold it. They re powered the buggy.
