Yerf dog gx150

Hello all new to buggy masters! I have a yerf dog gx150 I think it's a 2005 model and I bough it about 8months ago and the last guy said he bought the whole even 3rd generation front end for it from bmi with the buggy Depot hd ball joints. My problem is that the camber on the tires is way inwards and nothing is bent or broken but is still bent in wards I bought the hd top a arms from bd and the bottoms too all third gen but still didn't correct the problem I don't know what to do because it just eats through tires and I'm tired of spending tons of money on tires. I'm thinking the ball joints may be worn out but also the top a arm tabs may be short by a 1/4 or 1/2 inch. What can I do?

I don't want to spend 100$ on ball joints just to figure out my top a a arms were short by 1/2 inch

Welcome to the site.

Clear pictures can tell us a lot more than your description.

Here you are I didn't get to do the other side I had to leave for work.

But when I take my top and bottom a arms off they are the same size. It it a possibility the a arm tabs were welded on at the wrong level?

That bottom ball joint is way out of line , normally both studs are vertical in unison . Pull it off and see if its all wobbly . When new they're real tight .

PS - they're life time warranty .

I had same issue. With the beefed up a arms, there is barley enough room for nuts on the ball joints to go all way down. Check to see if on the bottom side of ball joints are tight. They tend to get slack in them. If so, the ball joint will push out. Check all points of ball joints. Should be able to just push on tire, and if looks like there is slack on spindles, need tighten. Use (lock tite) on the nuts of ball joints. Also, check your large nuts, that connect your a arms to bulk head. They tend to vibrate loss also. But not noticeable. Again, should be no slack in them. If none of that fix it, contact Travis at BD. He might have a better fix. Or might know what's going on.
I still have a slight inward on my passenger side also. Very slight. Not big issue. Not near as much as what you got. But if he has answer, let me know. :).
Also, check you bulk head. Make sure it's mounted straight on frame. Can check your shocks also. If there is any kind of length adjustment. The nut can come loss. And change length on shock. Somehow, happened to me as well. Even though both ends are locked in place, the shaft, can freely spin, and turn it self out. Might need to take both shocks completely out, and compare.
Lock tite. :).

So when the ball joints are off should I be able to move them around very freely at the joint or should it be staying straight with a little bit of movement? And the lifetime warranty says it doesn't cover against eventual wear which is what I thought it was

Sammyjo0512 10-03-2017 12:15 PM

Travis @ bd said that the ball joints wouldn't cause this worn out or not

tkeagle 10-03-2017 01:02 PM

Yes, when off, they should move freely.

There is a mark on each ball joint. A "C" I think. That mark needs to be facing inwards towards buggy.... I think... Might be so ball joint stays in. Looks the top ball joint is pushing out. Don't think that is right.

All right thanks I'll take a look when I get home

Sammyjo0512 10-03-2017 01:19 PM

I posted on the bd forum too like Travis said to do and he said the ball joints aren't worn out I don't understand or know what else it could be if nothing is bent. My shocks are all good does anyone know how long the even top a arms are from the end of the tab to end of the pipe?

I'm handling this over on the BD forum, but wanted to clarify here as well.

With correct installation, there isn't any way possible that my joints can cause such a severe camber problem, even if worn. It would be easy to send out a new set of ball joints, but that's not the problem. The issue is going to be either the A-Arms, or the spindles.

Also, my joints don't loosen on their own, and you don't need to tighten them periodically. If yours are loosening, either the threads are damaged or they aren't being tightened to spec.

However, the first problem I see is that the ball joints aren't installed. I couldn't see this until I brightened and enlarged the picture.
