OK,I have cleaned used proper lubrication, replaced brass bushing but when we let off the gas the clutch makes a loud noise,it also has new rubber boots, any ideas on what to check for, how to make proper alignment, could it be the weights are worn?

Clutch doesn't have rubber boots?(cam slippers/contact rubber tips) Is it the clutch or driven making noise? Does the belt have any wear on the sides, strings or nylon exposed?

carter kpx clutch noise

Couple little strings, belt if fairly new, clutch is also almost new the cvt is that the one with the little springs and weights, i think that may be were the noise is coming from ....

If there is wear on the sides of a belt usually indicates an alignment issue or belt is installed backwards.Verify belt has the flatter side against the motor. Is the clutch or driven pulleys rubbing the plate/engine mount?Check for wear marks- also check the chain @ the driven sprocket too.

Make alignments also

metalstudman1 08-21-2011 08:34 AM

To tighten belt-(properly adjusted belt is snug to loose on brass bushing-NOT tight)Loosen engine and jackshaft plate bolts- move engine towards front and jackshaft/driven plate towards the rear for belt adjustment-.For chain adjustment loosen jackshaft bolts and move it forward till chain is tight.Alignment for belt on clutch and driven pulleys-Using your eyes, site the pulleys closest to the engine, they have to be perfectly aligned-loosening the engine & jackshaft/driven plate bolts and align the pulleys. The engine or jackshaft plate can get cock-eyed from tightening the chain or belt or bolts can come loose.
