new predator engine 212cc
1 Attachment(s)
just got a new predator engine and got everything hooked up execept for the shaft being shorter than my old tech engine. I found a couple of threads about it but didn't understand what studing it out meant. I don't think there is enough shaft left on the end for just a longer bolt but not sure. There is about 1/2" left on the end. I hope my pic comes through.

you could cut the end of the Tec shaft off, carefully file it perfectly flat and run a long bolt through that and into the predator's shaft.

All that isn't needed- I ran 2 motors with exactly the same set-up. I just bought a longer bolt and forgot it!!! Had ZERO problems

Same here with the predator, My bro just ran a longer bolt had not one problem.
My briggs was also the same, a longer bolt and never had a problem. |
Can you remove that spacer and slide the engine out or slide the Secondary in?
That's not much shaft to work with. |
There's plenty of shaft left!!! That's 1/2 the clutch/bell sitting on the shaft- the clutch shaft is case hardened steel and only about 1-5/8" long and there's very little load on that part of the clutch as it only has to slide on it. The main load/force is on the rear sheave/pulley portion where the belt rides.

Yeah, I agree with MSM... run a longer bolt and you wont miss a beat.
