Big HP gy6 questions
Alright, so I have tossed around the idea of swapping in a bigger engine or just building the gy6, I think I have decided to build the gy6. However I have come up with some questions. I don't remember where I read it, but somewhere I read that the 232cc big bore kit wasn't super reliable due to a thin cylinder wall. If that's the case, are there any companies that offer a sleeve for this engine? I am currently looking into that with LA. Sleeve out of L.A. my next question, does anyone who makes a stroker kit offer a forged connecting rod to go up to the 232? Next question, does anyone make stronger head studs, I think that's what they are called. Next question, does anyone make a titanium valve train parts? And finally what's the best valve spring? BTW it is going on a 2013 HH GTS 150, eventually gonna be turbocharged, hence wanting the sleeved cylinder.

Contact Tom at Syc Powersports.
He can hook you up with a quality steel sleeved cyl and the American made valve springs He can prob answer most if not all your Q's. Try giving him a call VS. E mailing. He can talk much faster than type. |
the 232cc is a totally different motor then you standard gy6. Do a little research on it, the casing is a long case. Also it becomes a 67mm bore piston with thicker cylinder walls, also a stroker that does not need a spacer which is a 8.2 stroker crank. Also comes with a oil cooler with that case, all made by taida.
you would most likely need to mod your frame/ cut weld to make it fit. |
Alright, cool thanks, I will contact him.

Thanks jman, I am aware of the differences :) I read somewhere the 232 should be about 23 HP, has anyone seen or heard differently?

Well, it turns out the hammerhead uses the 54mm head stud spacing, at least mine is, so I guess I will probably just build up a motor on the side while having some fun with the stock 150. Also, I have heard back from L.A. Sleeve, they said they would be able to make a sleeve for these engines, they are a bit spendy though at just under $300
