Yerf dog

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I just picked up a yerf dog for my kids from the list! Got it pretty cheap due the work it needs. Needs a control arm, chain and clutches . Possibly a jack shaft also. Does anyone have recommendations on a good source for parts to the yerf dogs? I've found most of what I need but I'm trying to nail down what chain I need and the jack shaft assembly if possible. Thanks in advanced!!! Here's a pic of the buggy.

Bought lots of stuff from all three , always a Good experience . BMI is the unofficial Yerf Dog parts liquidator, as they bought up all the Yerf inventory .
Just enter Yerf Dog parts in the search box in off road karts at BMI , cross reference with different suppliers as some give more specs. / details than others .

Looking at this thing, why the jack shaft and belt? Granted I haven't built a cart in many years, but why now a chain drive from the motor to the axle?

A sprocket on a centrifugal clutch , and a sprocket on the axle works on a street kart where once you get rolling it's all about maintaining speed . But in a yard kart , buggy , etc. It has to be capable of providing the proper ratio of power versus resistance ... The Torque Converter ! Think of it as an automatic variable speed automatic transmission , or you / the motor ... Riding a 10 speed bike / the Kart .... And the torque converter shifts the gears seamlessly and automatically to keep engine from lugging ,or excessively over revving . A centrifugal clutch and sprocket would just fry the clutch if used in such an application. .

Google " How does a centrifugal torque converter work " find a diagram , illustration , or video , and you'll understand . Like I said 10 , 18 , or 21 speed bike . But variable , size changing pulleys instead of sprockets . Automatically adjusting to required ratio ( proper gear ) based on engine RPM , and load put upon the vehicle . Once you get it you'll see what a simple mechanism it really is .

I see it's a lot better than just a chain! Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure BMI has everything I need to get it running again. I'm gonna give a call on my lunch today and confirm what I need! Thanks again!
