have a weak spark it is the color of orange not blue. idles great runs good at very low speed when you give it throttle it acks like it chock is on. plug is running black but i beliveve that due to the low speeds have a 125 main with a k&n filter

KID4LIFE 07-22-2012 11:07 AM

My first thought would be the coil since you mentioned a orange spark. That would cause un burned fuel to turn your plug black.

beerbear 07-22-2012 11:28 PM

is it worth up grading the coil and cdi or stay with the stock one? Will there be any other electrial up grades that i will have do if i do the cdi and coil up grade?

beerbear 07-23-2012 12:46 AM

i also have the uneven a-arms what do you have to do to make it even and where can i get the parts? i have the 3206 yerf dog

metalstudman1 07-23-2012 07:39 AM

I didn't feel any real difference with the aftermarket "High Performance" coil & CDI over the stock replacements, but with your's having a weak spark a change could resolve your issues. The only other electrical part could possibly be the stator. I'd verify that all the electrical connections are good. ************* is where you can buy even A-arms (top arm's only is needed), If your buggy doesn't have the up-graded/3rd generation spindles I'd also look into a set. Since your first post was about Heims- is this modification on your list?

beerbear 07-23-2012 10:24 PM

yes but iam not quit sure how they go on, is there any pictures that show the steps and finish product

beerbear 07-23-2012 10:34 PM

also where could i order the 3rd generation spindles

metalstudman1 07-23-2012 10:41 PM

There are multiple threads/posts about this(Heims) if you do a search on the forum.
This is pic's from my modification,@ post #54: http://www.buggymasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1159
Can't use this vendors link for the 3rd gen spindles, "buggy depot" is the site

beerbear 07-23-2012 11:26 PM

how do install the heims on the stock a-arms yours really look sweet nice buggy

metalstudman1 07-23-2012 11:45 PM

Here's one I found by doing the "search"
http://www.buggymasters.com/forum/sh...x+heim+upgrade
(I recommend using a 1/2" Heim with a 3/8" misalignment spacers)

beerbear 07-23-2012 11:58 PM

great pic thank you i have a better idea now does the 3rd gen. spindles install 4x4 hubs on them

metalstudman1 07-24-2012 12:34 PM

Spindles & hubs usually aren't sold together. The hub fitting is based off the bearing type & size. The 3rd gen, spindle is set-up for the even A-arms and have a heavier-duty construction, the 1st & 2nd gen. spindles are set-up for un-even A-arms and need additional re-enforcement (when stock) for longevity. Since these spindles use a 5/8" bolt then finding a hub with a 5/8" bearing is needed.

beerbear 07-24-2012 10:36 PM

do you know where i can get new bushings for the a arms bmi is out of stock

metalstudman1 07-24-2012 11:17 PM

No but maybe another forum member does- Are the ones on your buggy trashed?

beerbear 07-24-2012 11:37 PM

not bad i just hate putting used parts in new ones. they will do until i can find some.
tring to find the heims now should be able to find them in the area i hope

thanks for all the help

LEEEZARD7 07-25-2012 12:21 AM

instead of the brass bushings has anyone tried delrin?

beerbear 07-25-2012 12:31 AM

metalstudman1 how long is the shaft on the 1/2 heims i guess maybe 1" or 1 1/4"

BuggyMaster 07-25-2012 03:27 PM

Not likely your spark is causing your running issue. For the 125 main jet, did you put that in there or is that what was in the machine in factory form?

1-1/2" is pretty standard, this is the ones I bought, this let's you use a 3/8" machine bolt in the stock spindle:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-2-x-1-2-20...item563fbb26b6
This particular set is plenty strong- you'll need 2 sets & 4 3/8" x 2" machine bolts (round headed allen bolt) from your local hardware store and nylon nuts.

beerbear 07-25-2012 10:44 PM

cool thank you metalstudman1

beerbear 07-25-2012 10:46 PM

on the jetting it came with a 120 main with a make shift air cleaner

beerbear 07-29-2012 10:42 PM

those 3/8 misalignment spacers are they just a 3/8 spacer? open a can of worms pulled engine to check clutchs one is shot fins all broken up, the other all rusted up would hardly move starting the clean up. order the other one

metalstudman1 07-30-2012 11:18 AM

The 3/8" misalignment spacers are tapered spacers that allow the Heim travel to move the maximum amount- not a simple spacer & well needed. I don't think you opened a can of worms!! but inspected the CVT transmission before a total failure!! The variator with the broken fins needs to be replaced as that is the only cooling feature on the CVT (very important). The clutch being rusted would make me research why- The CVT should be clean & dry (other than some belt dust). Keeping the CVT sealed (other than the breather) is important for longevity and proper performance. You need an impact wrench to remove the variator, and inspection of the rollers/sliders is needed to verify there isn't more damage. The fins being broke off probably occurred when some tried to remove it without an impact wrench.
