Crossfire 150R Running Issue

New to the buggy world, just bought a Crossfire 150R that needs some TLC. Bought it from a good friend so I trust what he has told me.
Ran fine 2 years ago, kids cracked a wheel and it was parked.
We got her running and it fires right off and idles fine. When you go to rev it, it acts like it is out of fuel.
If you give her a good dose of starting fluid before starting, it revs fine 4 or 5 times then acts like she is out of fuel. If you try to rev, it just bogs, let off, idles.

My thought is to remove the carb and clean it out. Possible jet plugged. I have read that a plugged jet will cause it not to idle though.

Anything else I should look for?

Have good fuel flow from the tank also

Thanks

Sounds like cleaning the carb will probably do it. That's where I would start.

You should adjust the valves, do a compression test, make sure you have a nice blue spark at the plug and clean the carb. Sounds like a carb issue or a leaking intake. But to make any decisions when trouble shooting you must know 3 things. What is the compression, do you have fuel and do you have spark. Not knowing any one of the 3 will make it difficult to isolate the problem. You will have to make sure the valves are properly adjusted before doing a compression test.

If you have a starting problem it's your valve if not then it sounds like your carb...... the first thing I would change on all these buggies is your spark plug coil to the hp Orange coil. The cheap one that comes with our buggys will act like it needs tuning when it starts to go bad.

Have fuel and starts soon as you turn the key.
Have not done a compression test yet.
Had a nice blue spark once we installed a good battery.

I have one of these buggies now and also had another before I sold it. I would start with cleaning the carb. and go from there before touching anything else. what color is your buggy? original color that is? and oh yea welcome. lol

Yes, thorough carb cleaning in order first.
The buggy is dark gray with red seats and trim. Original paint
