how many guys can see the only thing they could find to solve a problem is a hunk of blown up bearing?
i used the hub/inner race of one of the jshaft bearings as a sprocket hub spacer.
it's the only thing i could find of the correct size.
took ol' boris out for a drive.
cruised around the yard a while then got brave and went out on the road.
made 3900 rpm on level ground.
new shocks are delightful.
old clanking still undelightful, however.
got braver and cut into a piece of land i won't mention but is all raw and real steep hills.
had me some fun, went down to the bottom of the gnarliest hill around here.
10 feet up the throttle cable pulled outta the retainer on the carb.
reached back and used my hand.
the bouncing caused me to turn the choke on about every 15 seconds getting back up the hill, stalling it out.
took me 10 minutes to sputter my way up.
we've learned some things:
carry a damn screwdriver.
turf saver tires suck in uphill mud.
my belt's a little too loose.
i'm wearing some deercrap so the front fenders need to go on.
don't test-touch the cvt after you realize the belt's too loose bc it's HOT!!!
the 8 tooth sprocket did indeed help out quite a bit; i'm satisfied with the gearing now.
the ydog is a bit too small for me and i'm not gonna spend any more money on it.

but i will install the suspension bushings and whatever else i already bought first and enjoy it some then i believe i'll put it up for sale and perhaps start building the sandrail up as a reverse trike with license plates.

so...for sale!
