Any suggestions on next steps? I'm very pressed for time over the next few months and don't want the buggy in a broken state for any longer than it has to be. I'm hoping someone can suggest what would be the best use of my time -

Chances are the head is the issue. It makes plenty of low end power but is lacking in top end speed which could indicate a hindrance in flow in/out the engine. It is unlikely to be just running too rich on top end as there aren't any other signs of a rich condition. I think trying smaller jets at this point would be a waste of time.

Instead of swapping carbs, variators, and clutch between the two engines I may be better off just ordering a big valve 61mm head? I would take the cheap head and play with it in the future on the known good engine.

So is there something I should try before I bite the bullet and order a new (brand name) head? Suggestions (links) to 61mm big valve heads that will not leave me disappointed?
