Took the cover off to verify the cam piece didn't jump gears, couldn't really tell as the cam came off with the cover. Had to wire wheel clean the shaft so it moves freely now. Lined up the dots and put the cover back on using a very small amount of rtv. Changed the oil as it looked like black water. Adjusted the cable at the rear so it hits each gear as it's lined up on the gear selector.
Will give it a go again after work as I wanted the rtv to fully cure. I honestly think it's internal but hoping for an easy fix.
