Does the piston at top dead center stick out past the cylinder? Did you install a stroker crank? A extra base gasket will give you clearance. I marked the flywheel and the pointer on the case when installing my cam because the pointer isn't dead on. Take the head off and put it at top dead and mark it. it is easy to be off a tooth.
