This is because these wires belong to the engine manufacturer!!!!Did you find a schematic for your buggy showing the ign.,kill switch,light switch & tach?
The wires from the axle are for the tach more than likely.
the plug at the far rear would have been for a tail light.
The DC or AC doesn't matter at this point (I do believe!!) since you have the engine manufacturers components CDI,regulator. these two items are plugged into the engine wires- they will get a 12v dc power supply from the buggy. If you can't find a schematic- you'll need to trace your wires and make your own diagram- color & termination point. I don't think you're missing any wiring harness!!!.
The resistor could be for the tach or the FEV (what does it look like?)
