If you can't push fluid through, make sure the peddle or linkage isn't putting any pressure on the master. If there's even a little pressure on the plunger it will block the return port in the master.
If there's just a little trash in the return port, pushing the caliper piston in will create a good amount of pressure. It should un lodge it without having to take apart the master.
If this is the case, you would probably see some trash in the reservoir after you push the caliper piston in.
