Sounds like you've solved your own issue!!Yes it will pull better from a stop and go faster with the right belt (not a whole lot though)!A worn belt that is narrower than 7/8" will slow it down too.Since you have the smallest driven pulley (7 1/2"),making it go faster will have to be a mod to the axle sprocket (smaller or less teeth) or engine mod. Just for info's sake-I've used the 30 series 6" driven with a 40 clutch and gained about 4-5 mph top-end in the past, but that was with a custom back plate with no problems.
