Welcome aboard; wiring issues on these are prevalent and a lot of used ones show up in the condition yours is in. For the most part, black/white is ground, green is hot. you should be able to verify that basic layout with a multi meter pretty easily. make sure the engine and chassis are both well grounded. most coils have a light green surround on the spade coming out of the coil to indicate which spade get the hot wire and which gets the ground. Key switches, brake safety interlock switches and kill switches are quite often the root of most problems, as are corroded or loose grounds or terminal blocks.
