mini sidewinder
well i thought i would post some pic of the build so far. i am building a smaller side winder for my youngest children( they will be 1 at the end of the month, so i have plenty of time to finish). i bought a 90cc 4 wheeler w/out motor for 10 bucks, so i am using as much stuff off of that as possible. i have a 110 3 wheeler motor for the power, i made new control arms for it because the stock ball joints were junk, i went with heim joints for some adjustability, and they were a good alternative to finding ball joints. i have the lower frame together and the a-arms on it, i'm putting the upper rails together now. thats all for now.

Sweet project-I love seeing individuals having a vision and making it a reality.Best of luck- You have the original 110 engine that all the others copied. Keep taking pics and keep us posted.By the way- I'm not buying the explaination that it's for your 1 yr.old!!!!

it is, i cant even fit in it. i have to build there's first so i can build one for me later, also i have the most parts for a little one. i just acquired a blaster w/out a motor so i have a good start for mine.

just giving you a hard time- Great project for you and the kids- Careful you sound a lot like me and I have a bone yard of 4-wheelers and karts now!! I seldom have to go to buy parts anymore.

i always collect parts, i sold 2 carts and 2 motorcycles to fund this build, my wife hates going into the garage, although i have gotten better at just keeping what i need, and getting rid of the rest quickly.

I'm lucky that my wife LOVES her buggy and supports all my craziness and wierd junk/POS purchases!I am going to have a yard kart/ATV carcass sale soon as they have all been abused beyond reasonible repair costs and my kids are bored with 30-35 mph.

i made a little progress yesterday, i got the upper hoop tacked on. i changed the design a little, i didn't want to mount the shocks so far inboard, so i altered the outside rail. i gave the a-arms 5 degrees of angle(up in the front).

Your tilting the A-arms that 5 degrees will pay off on ease of steering for the little one driving-also corrects toe-in & out in the corners too. Nice job so far

Working out of town is the pits for us finatics that tinker in the man-cave every evening. By the time I get home and clear away my domestic duties there's no time left to work on anything before heading back out again. BOTH of my 2-seaters builds are collecting dust and rust.Being the nice guy I let another employee's son (17 yr.old) drive mine and the wife's buggies 3 weeks ago and I won't have them repaired till this weekend waiting on parts for us to have a little fun of our own again. I will post an update as soon as I get a chance to move forward on either of them-I'm soooo close to being able to fire them up and do testing.

i understand that, i worked 2 hrs away from home for 2 years, it sucks. i hate when someone borrows something and returns it broken.

I get tired of the "I didn't mean to" excuse and then throw their hands in the air and claim ignorance!!!!So the old saying is still true "Nice guys finish last"

i have made a little progress, not much time to work on it lately, i got the front shocks mounted, and the upper halo's tacked on.

You keep calling this the "MINI" sidewinder! It's as big as my buggy!! Looking really nice. What are the dimensions so far?

i call it a mini, because it has a 110cc with a wheel base and width of 42x60, the full size sidewinder has a wheel base and width of 55x75 with a 350cc to 650cc engine. i can just barely get in it right now, and there is no seat or steering wheel. o think i am going to us a blaster swing arm and modify it with a wider rear bearing tube. i think that will be easier and cheaper(since I already have one) than making a whole new one.

I told you it was as big as mine!!!! 44"w. x 58"wheel base.I've always thought about using one of the many 4-wheeler swingarms I have on my builds, just didn't appear to have the width I thought I might need.Keep posting your progress so I can see how it works out.The little 110's have a lot of pep. That what I put on my daughter's kart when she was 4 and none of us could catch her.
