Default motor compraison gy6 vs gx240

Hello all,
i have a 150 sunl im putting back to life and i dont know which motor to use.
it came with a honda gx240 (8hp) motor that runs fine! but the set up is missing the torque converter and jackshaft setup... should i go back with a gy6 (8.6hp)? How do the two motors compare? I figure that the gx 240 is stronger but is it by a big margin? i am a noob when it comes to displacement!

IMO no comparison. Honda GX240=3600 rpm's, GY6=6000+ rpm's. This where displacement isn't as important. Torque can only do so much- but now wheel speed can get you down the road/trail with adrenaline!!! The CVT systems don't compare either- GY6 is internal & extremely tunable where the Gx240 system is exposed to the elements and really the only upgrades to it's performance is size of driven and spring tension upgrade. Go with the GY6!!!
