THIS IS WHAT I HAVE TO WORK WITH

One more time!!!! Don't know if this is correct but it's an effort on a kart I've never owned or worked on!!!The science is: the cable pulls, the brake band has to tighten or be stretched around the drum to work, the spring has to return the brake band to a slack position once the pedal isn't being used.

ya i hear ya.... i took some different shots some one may have seen or worked on one similar, i have tried every combo-up side down inside out, there has got to be some part missing prior to us removing lower pan because it does not matter what i do what i have does not help nor work the brake!!!!!!!!!

The long part of the spring sits to high on the top of the bracket, but it almost worked, i don't understand why they didn't put a spring on the cable it self........ I REALLY LIKE WHAT YOU DID WITH THE PICTURE NICE DIAGRAM

Well i thought i had it the brakes worked so nice, then i went to pit the bottom plate back on and the spring was in the way, it was hitting on the back were the slot in the plate is causing pressure..... do you see how the bends are in the springs? sooooo close. see my disability is when i stop moving my joints in my body fuse together causing much pain so i can only do things a little at a time. and over time it has caused sever nerve damage. but any way were on the right track... YOUR A GOOD MAN THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

I don't think anything is missing from your set-up.It's the return spring-keep trying different configurations-sounds like you're close to getting it right!!!!If that spring won't work try putting a standard spring with hooks from the cable pulling downward to the frame. Can't see how the cable pin bracket comes off-but a short spring around the cable between the pin bracket would do the same thing. The brake band is tempered steel and will spring on it's own if you can figure out a way to get the cable to return the pedal back to it's stationary position. Make any sense?

Well yes it does, that's what i am going to do seems to be a better type of set up. 5 hours at the farm store and then home to try your idea, already went and got 4 different size springs........
