Default Need help ASAP!!!!

Well to say the least, when did getting go carts and stuff to start and stay running get so hard? I have a SLGK 160a. It was running fine last week, always garage kept, new in 09. Took it out a couple of weeks back, parked it in the garage, came out today to start, battery dead, of corse, hooked up another battery, it starts right up, for about 3 seconds, then dies, starts up again, 3 to 4 seconds, then dies, and so on and so on. If you try to give it any gas to keep it running, it dies right away. Checked gas line, it pours out when disconnected from carb. Checked every thing, plug looks good, every thing looks good. Like I said, was running fine a couple of weeks ago, any suggestions.

Yes, just did it, something was in one of the jets, now it runs, next figure out why when I turn the lights on it makes it bog down and die. I know the battery needs a charge, but shouldnt it run with the lights on without the battery connected, or no.

It depends on how your kart is wired. Most will run off the stator. If your lights come on without the engine running but with switch on then they are wired to the battery and if they only come on with engine running they are wired off the stator.

Get into the habit of shutting the fuel line off with the petcock--if you have one --if not, install one in the line, then running the engine out of gas. The 10 percent ethanol fuel plus all the other additives in today's gas causes it to evaporate very fast in relative terms and leave a clear gummy residue that will plug the carb up pretty quickly.

Depending on where you are located you may be able to get fuel without the ethanol. Just google "non ethanol fuel along with your zip code". If anyone carries this fuel it will list them. You can expect to pay 15-20 cents more per gallon but it is well worth it for your buggy will love you. Don't waste your money on any of the additives, I've tried them all and they don't do as they claim. Bottom line is ethanol is made with water and oil and water does not mix, ethanol is corrosive, and produces about 1/3 less btu then non ethanol fuel.

i posted a link, i think in the 150 and under section, it's to a website that tracks non-ethanol stations in all 50 states. It's in mini buggy general, but here it is again. http://pure-gas.org/
