Default A-arms & grease ....

Ran into a little surprise yesterday while working on the atv a-arms for the mini shark. They use the nylon bushings and have zerks for greasing. Disassembly revealed some really hard, very dirty grease and shaft bolts as close to seized to plastic as you can get. Never greased since new, right? When it came time to cut the arms I had one H#%^ of a smoke-out! Turns out the main tubes that the bushed tubes are welded to were completely filled with clean white lithium grease. I'm figuring they had gas vent holes in the tubes and when greasing these things most of the fresh grease went into the arms and didn't flow into the bushings. Just a heads up for those who add zerks .. if you're not getting the grease out the ends, it is going somewhere

This is one of the pitfalls with the Spiderbox A-arm grease zerk addition!!! I found that the tubes are hollow/open to the support tube and grease just fills the A-arm tubes.

Do yourself a favor and change the ends over to rod ends. Also, anyone using rodends should include the seals-it rodend seals that have a integral washer. It keeps the water and dirt out extending thier life.
