Default front tie rod help

First off thanks to everyone that has helped me get this far. got the new motor on and after a couple of afternoons of riding i noticed on of my tie rods are bent.( My boy says he has no idea how that happened!) I have searched on here for a repair method but im looking for the yerf 3203 specific repair. Does anyone have a write up and pictures that explaines how to beef this area up along with the joints on the spindles?

ours had a bent tie rod and since im breaking it down to paint i laid it across an anvil beat it straight and im ordering the 79$ ball joints that look better than orig.since it is allready in my brothers body shop i cheated and straighted the lower a arm on the frame machine

It looks to flimsy to straighten. I was wondering how someone had beefed up this area. I have full access to a machine and welding shop. I just needed some ideas or pictures. Thanks again

Lonnie, the 3203 doesn't have ball joints.

The only thing I can see is getting thicker rod and bigger heim joints to beef up the steering on these. (maybe use 3/8" or 7/16"all thread???)

On the spindles, I welded another gusset on the top (just like the bottom) to beef those up. I hit a large rock and bent mine, so i bent it back and welded the additional gusset.

Please don't use "all thread" for a steering arm!! way too soft to last any length of time. Go to any hardware store that has metal by the piece, get a round tube as close to your steering arm diameter, cut the arm and slip the tube over it and weld the ends.I've done this to many karts and never fixed it again.Hitting a rock or root hard with the tire is all it takes to bend a stock steering arm. The Spiderbox got a solid rod inside the stock steering arm when I lengthened them to maintain the wrench slot. They sell many different types of steering ball joints for riding mowers at Tractor supply,Southern states, Northern tools,ect.. for around $20 a pair that will hold up, bigger is better of course!

The problem that causes the bent rod (gotta be the passenger side) is its length and clearance to the front frame stub. When the a-arm goes to full droop the tie rod hits and bends on the frame. Mine looked like spaghetti after awhile. Metal's method will work, or get 3/8 solid rod, drilling about an inch into the center of it, and either tap it for the threaded portion of the existing tie rod, or drill oversize insert and weld in the end. Also start checking the steering arms on a routine basis for twisting, they'll end up hitting the tire. If you have a welder, fully weld up the stock gusset and add another like xlint notes on the cart side of it that goes all the way up and to the end of the arm where the rod end mounts.

First pic shows the problem/contact point. My first repair was to just weld another piece of the same size rod next to it, worked ok.

Second pic shows a more solid repair. Problem is, larger diameter = more contact. At that stage i began messing with the linkage and also had built new a-arms and a new front end to hang them from and put on larger rims/tires. which led to messing with the pitman. Which led to a lot of work and rework of a difficult, marginal design. Never got rid of very bad bump steer issues. which led to a dual arm design i'm nearly done with.

Third pic shows the steering arm and what rough terrain will do to it.

google go cart parts and you can most likely find you part. i had to get all new tie rod ends. i think i use gocartpartsusa.com it might be something close to that.

what is the tubing size on these tie rods? are they aluminum?
