How to add fenders / mud flaps to the Helix

I got Helix 1 up and running today. A couple cool notes: American Sportworks has replaced the shifter lever pulley and the rear trans shifter pulley with metal pieces! Should be quite strong.

Anyways, I went ahead and ordered all of the parts for adding mudflaps. This is not a bolt on mod though. You need to know how to weld or know someone that will do the welding for you. Essentially you have to use the mudflaps and associate parts from the Carbide. Here is the parts list:

1- Front fender bracket for left side 14097
1- Front fender bracket for right side 14096
1- Rear fender bracket for left side 14179
1- Rear fender bracket for right side 14181

The rear fender mounts need to be shortened 1.25 inches. I did mine at 1.75 and the fenders are snugged up against the frame and add a little more protection from slinging mud onto the engine but if you want them perfectly centered, the correct amount to take out is 1.25 inches.

There is one bolt that holds the rear fender brackets on. You drill the hole through the trailing arm, centered on its face, 6.5 inches from the rear edge of the bolt flange holding the lower shock mount to the swing arm.

For the fronts, drill a 7/16 hole on the side of the frame rail 8.5 inches forward of where the upper frame section is welded to the main frame rail. (see attached pic for what I am talking about) You'd think you want them closer however you have to compensate for compression of the shocks. Keep your spacing even around the edge of the tire. This will take at least two people. One to make sure it is lined up and the other to hold it still while it is welded in place. Note that on mine in the pics below, I actually went 7.5 inches and they are a little too far back (that's how I know 8.5 is the correct distance) but they are still quite functional.

I'll put up some better pics tomorrow but thought I would get the part numbers out to those of you that were looking to do this mod.
