Default cdi or stator?

on a gy6 150 im trying to find out if the stator or the cdi is bad.im working on it for someone and it has no fire, the coil is good.it did have weak spark(yellow)but now that has stoped.
i took off the wires to the coil and tested them for ac volts and it showed 6-8 volts.i checked another 150 and it showed 44 volts.

so would this be the cdi or stator?
is there something else to check?
thanks for the help

Both should be tested with an Ohm Meter.

Check the service manuals section. If I remember right, none of the three leads to the stator should have a connection to ground and they should have equal readings between each of the three leads.

Can't remember for sure off the top of my head.

Did the machine die instantly or did it sit for a while and now does nothing?
