yerf dog/ rack and pinion out
ok i got everything off and i have been cleaning everything really good some dirt here and there and the boots where shot and the rack but i have new ones sitting on the table. I sprayed a bunch of wd40 in the rack and kept turning it back and forth and everything looks fine and no teeth where added. The one thing i didnt like was the shaft by the steering wheel wasnt fully all the way into the treads so i just took a hammer and pushed it in a little more to give it a full grab. At this point i dont really see anything wrong im just going to grease and clean everything and put it back together and go from there heres the pics.

When the U-joint yolks are properly fitted on the splined shaft the bolt fits in the radius groove to keep it from seating too deep. Grease the "heck" out of the rack, cycle it multiple times to get plenty of grease around the pinion gear again.

ok after spending a couple of hours of just cleaning the rack and pinion and the u joint yolks the turning feels much much better no binding and feels smooth. The only thing we did test was i put my wife behind the wheel as i pushed her in the back yard and yes the turning radius s#cks lol. but everything feels good now

take your tie rod ball joints off , grease the narrow boot end well and slide it on. the narrow end stays on the tie rod just past the hex. i'm assuming your ball joints are probably really shot? basing that on the other picture of how far over the a-arms your full lock turn was taking them.
