Default 150cc Sahara backfiring when letting off after full throttle

I'm considering picking up a Sahara 150cc. The guy says when running flat out as soon as he lets off the gas the engine will backfire. Any thoughts on what would be causing that?

This issue can be the cause of many things but ususally doesn't indicate any type of engine problem. All of my toys backfire on deceleration due to :less restictive muffler, insulation removal or deterioration. The backfire is simply igniting unburned fuel gases still in the pipe or muffler. Think of a safety gas can or fuel cell- the addition of foam or like product doesn't allow the fuel/air mix combined with heat to combust as easily- that's the same thing the sound insulation does in a muffler.

Well I had a friend test drive it who was mechanically inclined and I trust so I bought it for $600.00.

It needs a new passenger seat belt, reverse cable, and the headlights re-wired.
