Parking brake
I have a stock Yerf Dog 3206. Because it is a bit cold collared, it can be somewhat difficult to start the unit from the seating position. I am wanting to come up with a way to lock the brake so I can start the unit without having to hold down the pedal. I do not want to bypass the switch because I would also like to have a "parking brake". Has anyone come up with a safe, cost effective way to do this? Would need to be something that would not lock unless you wanted it locked.
I always like to ask experienced folks about a problem. I hate reinventing the wheel. |

I don't know how to explain this without a pic but I'll try. It will be easy and cheap. I get this idea from the tractors I have. This is used during shipping to lock the hydrolic brakes. Off one side of the brake pedal you will weld a 5/16" diameter round stock appx. 1/2" - 3/4". Then you will have a piece of 1/8" thick 1 1/4" wide and length to be determined with 3-4 angled slots cut into it. On the bottom a hole for a pivot point, mount for pivot to be determined. While driving the lever just lays on the floor but when applying the brake to hold the buggy depress the pedal then swing the lever up locking the 5/16" stub into one of the slots. The several slots will compensate for when the brakes wear and pedal is pushed further. Hopefully you can get the idea.

Farm boy!
First, welcome to the site Sgt. Major, honor to have you here! Tom you must be an old farm boy, cause thats how I remember all the brake pedals being on our tractors! and it would be a simple effective way to cure his issues!

Thanks guys. It has been a while since I have been on a tractor, but I do remember something like that. Thanks for the info.
Xlint89 - cold collared (to me) means that the thing is very hard to start when it is cold. I have heard that all of my life but then again, I have been around a while. :-) |
