Pulling the flywheel
I bought a carter talon. The lady said it needed the carb cleaned. Like a dummy, I didnt even turn the key at her house because I had my mind on something else.
Get it home, and the starter spins but the engine doesn't. Pretty sure the start clutch is bad as I can turn the gear over by hand for the most part. Unfortunately, you gotta pull everything off the right side of the engine and pop the case to get to it. Naturally the flywheel is on there rather well. Has anyone ever pulled one off with a regular puller without messing it up? I may have a local source for the puller but won't know until tomorrow just curious if anyone has pulled one with a standard steering wheel puller. I also have a 3 prong style puller but figure that would have more of a chance at damaging it. |

I should note that I wound up using an actual GY6 flywheel puller. Worked like a charm. No way for the other type pullers to do it without messing up the flywheel.
