Default Roketa GK-13

I purchased a non-running gk-13 last week & cannot get it to start. I have replaced the following items either because they were bad and needed replacing or as part of my troubleshooting process: head gasket, starter, carb, choke(getting voltage), spark plug, water pump & other non important stuff. Whenever I place my hand over the intake it starts & runs rough for about 30secs. When I dont have my hand over the intake it takes about 10 secs to start & dies immediately. I also noticed that when I changed spark plug it started right up for a minute then died. Also, when i removed tube from top of valve cover, which goes to a T, it made a sucking noise for 3 secs, replaced hose & started right up again for a minute then died. The other hoses coming off of that T goto the case that has stator inside & a small box on air filter that has all holes plugged. I also put piston at top & made sure lines on sprocket for cam were horizontal. I am also getting spark at the plug. Any suggestions?

What is the compression? What color is the spark at the plug?

Look for the idle adjuster screw and increase the RPM's by turning it in clockwise. Do it a little at a time till you get it to run. You could also try sitting in it and pressing lightly on the gas pedal while trying to start it. If that works and it dies as soon as you let off the gas increase the idle speed of the engine until she runs. Don't go too high with the idle or the clutch will engage and it'll move as soon as you start it. Remove the spark plug. If it's black the engine is running too rich and choking out. The plug should be a brownish color. In that case you may want to try adjusting the idle mixture if you know how to do it. As a general rule I usually turn the screw in (clockwise) until it stops (don't force it) and then back it out 2 and 1/2 turns and then make any fine tuning adjustments thereafter by turning the screw in or out until I get it to idle as smoothly as I can. If the plug is black and you can't get the air/fuel mixture set properly you will have to either disassemble the carb, clean it out and check the float level or purchase a new carb. Also check the intake that the carb is pushed in to. I had an engine that would not accelerate. Turned out that the intake was cracked. Couldn't see it when it was cold but as soon as it warmed up the crack was quite visible. After I replaced the intake the engine ran fine.
