Redneck cold air intake won't fit!
The 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" adapter from the local hardware store wont fit between the frame and motor when trying to connect it to the carb. Any suggestions? Are you guys extending the 1-1/4" intake size out past the cross beam and then upsize it?

Yes a length of straight pipe about 7" long is used for two reason.
A- to clear the cross member B- you need the length of pipe beyween the filter and carb to smooth out turbulence and straighten the air flow before it enters the carb. This pipe "a velocity tube" aids throttle response and general performance. The correct length is important, two long looses velocity , too short doesn't do the job. Most of our venders offer a tapered velocity tube made to fit the uni and carb openings in the optimum length. Plumbing couplers and a length of drain pipe is the "redneck" version. Very close to being just as effective as the velocity tube but less expensive. |

I see what ur saying too small of a gap for the pipe to fit thru... you nay need to get yourself an intake riser it lifts the carburator up about 1.75" so the redneck intake clears over the cross bar...Eddie.

try a 1.25 straight coupler and pipe. then go up in size after clearing the cross bar. you may need to adjust carb position slightly by loosening the carb to intake coupler. it won't hurt to tip the carb down just enough for the tube to slide under the crossbar.
