HammerHead Gt 150 clutch and variator removal
Hello guys,
I have a hammerhead Gt 150 and cannot get the clutch or variator nut off and have been seeing that impact wrenches work very well, I am going to get one but how would I keep the clutch and variator from spinning when using the impact wrench. Also what would you guys suggest replacing to get more torque from the motor/climbing ability. I have heard that lower gram rollers give better climbing ability and different clutch springs affect speed, is this true. Any help is great, thanks |

Essentially, you 'bump' the impact trigger a few times, and the nut should come off.
Lower weight sliders and a 1500RPM spring help with the climbing. Almost everyone does this mod first. 10-12gram sliders are the most common.

Yup mine is too. They like metric sizes a lot on the hammerhead series. about 95% of the nuts and bolts are metric.

You can also use a strap wrench or make some kind of spanner tool.

well i was watching the kidnme youtube video and he was using a 1 1/2 inch socket....
apparently his 1.5 inch socket is well used and will fit over the 1mm larger clutch flat nut because mine sure as hell wont |

Quote: how drastically will this change the speed? Lighter weights does not change ur speed it gives you more bottom end for climbing, muding, etc. Don't go lighter than 11 gram slider or you'll start losing top end speed. Becareful when replacing main clutch spring its spring loaded. Yes as mentioned above go with yellow. And open up the lungs of ur buggy with uni filter gutting ur muffler and rejetting. And dude ur ready to rock.

if you want to go faster you have to change the gearing
you can get the motorio rear pulley that allows more belt travel you can change the internal gearset behind the rear pulley/clutch you can change the external drive gear to a higher tooth you can get taller rear wheels and sliders sometimes WILL increase your speed if your variator isnt closing all the way now it might with sliders thus increasing speed also clutch springs wont affect speed at all they only affect how hard the buggy launches (like dumping the clutch at a higher rpm in a car) |

Tuning the variator will not make you anymore power. The head and cam is where 90% of your power will be made. By tuning the variator you are just changing the power curve. Tune for low end and you will loose top end and visa verse.
