Sounds like an aborted project to me. Do you know the individual selling it, or is it on craigslist? If it had the original engine still, then yeah, most likely, depending on the rest of the unit. With having someone already torn the engine out, its a gamble. Oddy's are good units, but are increasingly heard to find parts for. Look up rarerat, he is an Oddy expert, maybe send a PM his way.

If it were me, I would either walk away or low ball him. You do not know what the condition of the motor is, whether it has all of the parts or even if there is a catastrophic failure in the motor itself. To under take a project like this you want to be VERY mechanically inclined and be prepared to have a deep wallet.
