Default Replacement gas tank?

Hello everyone! If anyone read some of my previous threads, you'll know that I tried epoxy-ing in a brass fitting to my gas tank. That didn't work out too well. Since I finished my science fair trials yesterday, the kart is now grounded, gas tank and battery removed, and I am contemplating painting it... But on that note, the gas tank is so screwed up, I just want to dump it and get a new one. What I'm looking for is something like the one that was put on the Carter XTVs (this), but I can't find these. Preferably, this tank would cost me less than $50... However this is the closest I have come to something like it. I just don't need 10 gallons, nor do I want to spend $100 on that. I'll sooner replace my ball joints and use a water bottle as a fuel tank that buy that!

Anyone have opinions/ideas/pics?

Thanks

I looked high and low for months for that carter tank, I don't think anyone has picked up making carter parts yet, and carter will likely not be back in business. I have seen countless Yerf's running hammerhead tanks, but you would need to fabricate a mount.

looks good, but 80 bucks is a lot for a gas tank, wouldn't you say? I saw it on hh performance... I was also wondering about the crossfire tanks... Anyone have one they might sell?

I actually pointed that out in another post. You will need to be able to weld new mounts in order to use that particular tank. You might be able to drill and bolt in a piece of flat stock or angle iron. Take a look at my engine swap thread for an idea of how to mount it in the back rack.

Remove the - between y and d
This is a bolt on set for that tank

Wow! I really would not trust 4 gallons of fuel on 4 of those clamp studs. That is 30lbs of swinging sloshing goodness just waiting to come loose. If you were to do something like that on a yerf rack, I would suggest drilling 2 of the holes through the top bar, and then secure the other 2 with something similar, but certainly not all 4 studs.

If anyone has a spare YD Spiderbox tank tell me what you want for it! I can always get some JB weld and put my brass fitting in the tank, but I would much rather take someone's second hand tank with the factory tank insert than try my own and screw up my tank

So, after reading up on JB weld, there are plenty of people using it long term on their car gas tanks, so I think it'll stand up to seal in my hose barb I have...

ALSO, I have some cracks where the manifold outlet (?) connects to my airbox, do you think I could epoxy those cracks over as well? They are about 1/16in. to 3/32in. in width (pics later).
