11 pole stator
I am thinking about buying the 11 pole stator kit from B&D has anyone else tried these? it says if will fit crossfire 150 and the 150r which is the one I will put it on.

What are you trying to power with that? I ask because a few guys have mentioned going with the bigger stators for lights and such, but the more electricity you draw form the engine, the more hp you essentially rob from it. If it is lighting, then I would suggest LED, as they draw 1/10 the power incandescent bulbs pull, and produce 1/4 the heat, and are shock friendly. If you want to add a winch, a bigger battery would be better, since you won't be using it all the time.

mostly for lights master. it already has the 2 lower lights,and I want too add 2 more up top and also maybe turn signals if I can get these registered for the street.

Then LED's would be better, IMO. There are a few chinese made LED light bars and spots that are reasonably priced. I would think you could get turn signals and brake lights for cheap as well.

I already have the tail-brake light combo, and turn signal led lights. only the headlights aren"t led.

I'd go with what Yota said, I also talked about this stator issue with Tom @ SYC & he said the same thing!

can I mix the regular head lights with the rest of the lights LED?

I don't see why not, the power you save with the led's should only help you with the regular ones!

the reason I ask if I need a bigger stator is because I read somewhere that the 6 pole stator which my buggies have is only good for 35 watts.the lights I want to put on top is 35 watt lights, they were 55 watts but I changed the bulbs in them to 35.

so I would have the 2 on top and also the ones that came on it, which I assume is also 35 watts, plus the rest.

6-pole is good for 75w and 8-pole for about 100w. Both of these are 2-phase windings and can work with your stock rectifier. The 11-pole puts out over 200w but is a 3-phase winding that needs a 250 rectifier and may need new supply and return wires to handle the power. Remember that the flywheel must match the stator because the magnets are positioned differently on each size stator.

My setup was prior to any kits. If you want to get the maximum out of the 11-pole, you will have to upgrade the wire gauge. The scooter guys are doing this upgrade more due to the demands of EFI or powered oil pumps. They seem to have deeper pockets to spend crazy money on GY6 upgrades.

so if I put on a set of 55 watt lights, that means I would be overloading the 6 pole and 8 pole stator?

You could run one 55w with the 6-pole or one 100w with the 8-pole stators. Choose the biggest reflector dish light you can find and mount it in the center like an Odyssey.

Most scooters have 8-pole stators to handle street legal lighting. With extra lights on buggies, I was surprised that buggies did not have eight or eleven-pole windings as standard equipment. If you're going to upgrade, you might as well go to the largest capacity instead of wishing for it later and contemplating a second upgrade.
It was very common to run 6" or 8" lights with the stock 35w bulbs on the Yerfs prior to stator options. It will keep your load close stock if you are not ready to spend the money on LED and run dedicated DC power runs (remember that your lights are powered directly off AC stator power). |

I though the larger the stator, and the more power you drew off it, the more horsepower you where robbing form the engine?

It has the same effect as running more accessories on your car. The more you run off the crank, the more power it takes to drive them, and less being put out to the trans and so on. The same effect when you turn the a/c on, on smaller cars, you will feel the difference in power.
I stand by my original comment, LED lights draw much less, and while they can be expensive, they are worth it to not invest in the engine and lose driving power.

There are 4-pole stators available for racing which provide power only for your ignition.
There are other uses for the larger stators. If you want to run a radio or winch using a larger battery, a larger rectifier and stator gives you faster charge recovery in addition to usable capacity. |

would it help if I run the all the lights straight off the battery, instead of the stator? with a inline relay of course.

The charging circuit is not powerful enough to keep up and will allow your battery to drain to the point where you will not be able to start the engine.
