Made jack shaft mount plate with two pieces of 1-1/4" square tube, one angled steel, 1.5" tube, on 9" x 12" 1/8" piece of flat stock.
I used 10" 3/4" shaft. I should have used 12" length since it will be a tight squeeze for jack shaft sprocket.

The family kept asking me how much longer until the Murray is finished.
I reply; I have to make the caliper mount, wait to order caliper and disc, measure and order one last time on finished assembly before I order my Torque converter belt. They just looked at me like I was speaking jiberish..... Anyways to include the family more, I said let's go pick some colors at auto zone. Figured if I paint the front (since I am done there for now) they will start seeing it come to life. We decided to not move back to Florida or Arizona but to stay in West Virginia. So we painted Our Murray Grocery Cart - gold and deep blue Mountaineers. Now I just need a coon pelt hat.

are you going to center the steering up or leave it as is?

I really want to move the steering wheel center, but this will be for family fun. Meaning one adult and child will still fit or two kids.
I was so close to chopping it off but wife stopped me. I will one day acquire a single seater.

Just a thought x
But what is the measurement on the seat? Is it the 32" ? That might be a bit too wide. But a seat is a seat.

That is too wide. I probably could and will end up making a base out of wood, padding, and vinyl.
Thank you for the effort.

I have welding wire again yay....
just waiting on belt. Then I can line everything up and weld band brake mount. Went ahead and figured out my gearing. As I forgot to mention in the beginning of this thread. I will be riding on moderate hills to flat asphalt with the occasional long steep hill. I am approximately 200 lbs. (kart maybe 100 lbs without motor) 7" driven -Engine: 6 Hp B&S OHV INTEK -Stock -Tires : 15" -JS: 12T -Axle sprocket: 66T Gear ratio = 5.5:1 I think that should be fine since I have the 7" driven. Cant wait to see.....

I need to update this post. I have been busy with work. I did get it moving under it's own power but it twisted the JS plate ( to thin materiel). So I made a HD rectangle tube which should remedy it. Waiting on some bearings to come in. I will try to update with pics later.

So I did have a slight chain clearance issue, so I decided to hack off one of the cross mounts and then run the support back up to top of frame.
I then put engine on, JS on, and connected everything for a quick test drive... It took off with plenty of torque. I hit the gas pedal for the second time and the torque bent and twisted my JS mount plate. ( it was only 1/8" thick) So to remedy this I installed a HD 5" x 3" x 12" rectangle tube that is a 1/4" thick ( donated by a member on DIY gokarts). I am currently waiting on some new JS bearings to come in the mail and will attempt to take it for another brake-less ride. I am still looking to acquire a hydraulic brake caliper, line, and master-cylinder from an old atv, go kart or dirtbike. Then I will mount that up, upholster seat, paint, and enjoy......

Took it for a test drive and the cheap front wheels fell apart ( which i knew they would ). just waiting on some bearings to come in for the new smaller rims I bought atflea market. And I could feel some flex in the mount so I added another support bar. I have had no luck at finding cheap used disc brake set up from atv or dirtbike ( everyone thinks their stuff is made from gold ) so i attached old band brake from some 3/8 steel rod Once it is up and running I will enjoy for the remaining good weather and finish painting and other fabbing over winter.
