lighting help
i have a kartco 605s with a tecumseh 6.5 pull start, im looking to add some led headlights for some night driving, i ordered a charge stator with two wire coming off, do i need anything else to supply power to the lights? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

the flywheel is still on and i cant tell, i can see theres a difference in the fins where they are not there in one spot from the outside.....

the charge stator you bought does it go under the flywheel or where?

Yes it goes under the flywheel, its out of a Tecumseh engine, I ended up getting the flywheel from the same guy and same engine that the stator came from. You got me thing that my flywheel didn't have the magnets as it never had a stator only the charge coil for the plug.

maybe I am wrong but all the stators I have seen before had to have a flywheel with inside magnets, to go along with it to work. maybe your engine is different.

My stock one didn't, the guy on eBay who I got the stator from had the matching flywheel that I bought also.

that should be all you need then, the lights will burn as long as the engine is running.

if you add a battery. then you would be able to use them when you want. Fauxfox pretty much covered everything else.

Do I really need one? From what I understand the lights will just fluctuate with throttle. If thats the case I can live with it, no different than my snow blower.

It will all depend on what the stator will put out as far as voltage. If at any point you are putting 16 or more volts to the lights you will burn the lights out. Just referring to my riding mowers and even the Hammerhead buggies I sell with the LCT (tucumseh) engines, all have rectifier/regulators. I can't say I have ever run across a charging system without a regulator of some sort.

I won't know till I get it installed, thanks for the info I will check the output before hooking to the lights.
